Our Midwife Services Provide You With:
Comprehensive Maternity Care
Complete prenatal, homebirth, and postpartum care with midwives who perform visits in your home and at their office. Providing you the comfort and convenience of personalized and home-based care. With a two-midwife practice consisting of both a CNM and a CPM, you truly get the best of both worlds.
Client Centered
Each visit, 45-60 minutes, allows plenty of time for questions, concerns, education and getting to know one another. Family and friends are always welcome at visits and sibling participation is encouraged. By the time labor begins, a mutual friendship and trust has developed.
Prenatal Care Schedule
Prenatal visits are scheduled every four weeks up until your 28th week of pregnancy, every two weeks until your 36th week, then weekly until birth. Each visit includes measuring blood pressure, testing urine, listening to your baby’s heartbeat, measuring their growth and, as they grow, determining their position.
Blood work & Ultrasounds
Midwifery services include ordering and collecting routine lab work and ordering routine ultrasound examinations. Additional testing, including genetic screening, and ultrasound are done as necessary or desired.
Home Birth
When you go into labor, Midwives Margo & Kizie are with you from the time you’re ready for Midwife to arrive. They may also use a trained birth assistant or student to help at your birth. The team stays with you throughout your labor and birth, providing care and support. After the birth, Midwife does a comprehensive newborn examination and helps mom and baby to establish breastfeeding.
Hospital Birth Support
Planning to have your baby in the hospital? Margo & Kizie can provide complete prenatal and postpartum care and in-hospital labor support.
Postpartum Care
Your postpartum care is also very important and the midwives remain on call for you during those initial weeks. A phone call check-in is performed around the 24 hour mark, and visits are performed at 2 days, 2 weeks, and 6 weeks. At the 2 day visit the birth certificate is completed and filed and the metabolic screen & congenital heart disease screening are performed.
* We allow for an extra visit during the postpartum if needed for breastfeeding support or any other concerns. If you had a hospital birth, then your care schedule is adjusted to 1 week, 3 week, and 6 week.
The Business Side
Because money is important and we want to be transparent and upfront.
All Inclusive
The total fee includes comprehensive prenatal, birth, and postpartum care, newborn care at birth, newborn screening tests, birth supplies, birth pool, routine medications for mom and baby at birth, birth assistant and a travel fee that allows your midwives to provide home visits for prenatal and postpartum care.
Flexible Fees
The fee is flexible based on your payment arrangements with the steepest discount given if paid at initial visit. Other plans allow you to pay through 36 weeks, or if you need to sign up for a 12 month plan.
Insurance
Have insurance or a Christian Share Plan? Our biller will work with you and your insurance company to get the best coverage possible. Practical Midwifery does not contract with and is not in-network with any private insurance company. All fees are ultimately the responsibility of the client. Keep in mind that Florida law requires most insurers to cover midwifery services and home birth.
Medicaid or TRICARE
Have Medicaid? Or TRICARE? Practical Midwifery is not in-network with Medicaid yet, but hopes to be in 2020. Kizie Tosi CNM is now credentialed with TRICARE but not in-network, which means you may be eligible for reimbursement. Insurance will cover your lab fees and ultrasounds.
Ask about a payment plan.
Additional Fees
Lab work, ultrasound, and physician consultations are not included in our fee. Lab work discounts are available for those without insurance.
